Safety management that puts people and worksites first

Heat-Related Illness Safety Inspections

Establishing a Safety-Centered Management System

To respond systematically to strengthened safety and health regulations, BMC—working with the Mayor’s Safety Management Office, which serves as the control tower for safety and health management—is taking the lead in implementing “worksite-centered safety management.” Additionally, through the Safety and Health Management Committee, BMC incorporates reasonable and objective perspectives into safety and health activities. With executive participation in worksite inspections, it strengthens oversight during disaster-prone periods (rainy and winter seasons) and extreme weather events (e.g., heat waves and typhoons), to prevent accidents.

Systematic Implementation of Worksite-Centered Safety Management

BMC is implementing prevention-focused safety and health activities by establishing and expanding an autonomous safety and health management system. Through disaster safety management and resource stockpiling plans, and by establishing an integrated Safety Management Platform (SMP), the corporation provides workers with real-time safety information about their worksites and enables preparedness and two-way communication during disasters or emergencies. Furthermore, BMC collaborates with external experts and conducts safety inspections using smart safety equipment, such as drones, to prepare for disaster-related incidents.

Spreading Awareness of Safety Culture

BMC promotes the spread of safety culture and awareness by implementing initiatives such as a safety proposal system, safety campaigns, and safety competitions (Safety Golden Bell) for employees and site workers, building consensus and creating opportunities for communication. Moreover, BMC is working to improve employees’ safety awareness through hands-on programs such as scaffolding practice training, 119 emergency safety drills, and VR-based smart safety training. During disaster-prone periods (extreme summer heat and winter), it also provides safety supplies to site workers to help ensure a safer working environment.
